Teachers Teaching Teachers #77 – Participation is the Most Important Part

We were joined this week by Joyce Valenza and the co-founders of of Voice Thread, Ben Papell and Steve Muth (and many wonderful teachers in the chat room). In the spirit of producing content that is open to co-creation…

…we invite you add an interesting Voice Thread to this post. Either link to or embed a Voice Thread that would help show how teachers are using this tool in their classrooms or with their colleagues.

Nice talk. The first time I used Vista (and Office 2007) I found it to be one of the most difficult (computer environment) adaptations I’ve had to make in recent history. I’m a Mac OS X user at home, Win XP user at work, and I’ve tried out several flavors of Linux. Each time I’ve tried a new environment, there were things to learn and get used to, but they were easy to pick up. The last time I had a shock anything like Vista-shock was actually the transition between the old Mac OS and Mac OS X. Two things helped with that: 1) I tend to believe Apple knows what they’re doing concerning UIs, and was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, and 2) Apple really does know what they’re doing with UIs. I think the Vista shock is actually even greater, and so far seems pretty senseless from a UI perspective. Perhaps my opinion on that will change once I’ve used it moresexy lingerie1) I tend to believe Apple knows what they’re doing concerning UIs, and was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, and 2) Apple really does know what they’re doing with UIs. 1. Voice Thread on sixth graders experience of recent earthquake

    Hi, Sorry about the block

I’m here in Cupertino, CA and my students are learning for the first time today how to post text and share an audio story about the earthquake. Same as above, "work in progress," no identity pictures. Kids are having a blast though.

  2. Voicethread 4 Education wiki
I am collecting examples of how educators are using Voicethread in their classroom or for professional development on a wiki at: http://voicethread4education.wikispaces.com/

My plan is to share these examples with other technology teachers who provide professional development in their schools.

Feel free to add your own examples or links to resources. Thanks in advance,
