Week of September 27-October 4, 2008
Welcome to the this week’s edition of the EdTechTalk (ETT) Weekly Newsletter!
As we move into October, it is time to gear up for great professional development. We have some fabulous shows on ETT as well as the K12 Online Conference beginning this month. This is a free conference which offers a wide variety of professional development in the form of archived videos and live Elluminate sessions. Some of our very own ETT webcasters will be presenters at the conference. We begin, on October 20th, with Seedlings Alice Barr, Cheryl Oakes, and Bob Sprankle kicking us off with a presentation entitled, "What is school?" On October 28th, Lisa Parisi’s video called, "Oh the Possibilities" will be released and on October 31st, Lorna Costantini and Matt Montagne will have their "Parental Engagement in the 21st Century" presentation released. There are many other educational and exciting presentations so be sure to stop by and see what’s happening. http://k12onlineconference.org/docs/k12online2008schedule.html

It really was an international show!

Alice, Bob and Cheryl
Listen in while Cheryl Oakes and Sheryl Nussbaum Beach discuss the upcoming MaineEd08, ACTEM conference for October 16 and 17 in Augusta, ME. Sheryl was unable to come on the show live so we recorded the conversation.

tablet program roll out. This is an great discussion of the right way

In this episode, Maria Knee and Lisa Parisi were joined by Alec Couros, Peggy George, Lisa Thumann, Scott Shelhart, and Barb Gilman. We discussed teaching as a calling or a job. Then we moved into how this answer affects how we help pre-service and new teachers.

This is a great show for SEEDLINGS with a HS special educator who has a live radio show with her students as well and a continuing story in a blog with another student.
Alice, Bob and Cheryl join Tracy in welcoming you to visit the show. The chat has incredible links.
We were joined this week by Stephen Lewis, principal of Oak Ridge Elementary. Stephen shared his experiences as principal of a Title One school and how technology is present in the school. Alice Mercer is the tech integrator at the school. Stephen and Alice discussed the issues, joys and challenges of their work.
We continued to stream for part of our post show.
Our next show is October 6, 2008 where we will talk about the K12Online Conference with the conference conveners.
